SMA electricity tariff configurator & registration route
At a glance
There are many good reasons to change your electricity supplier, not only from an economic point of view, but also from an environmental perspective.
In order to switch electricity providers, prospective customers first have to do research and then provide a lot of often unknown personal data in order to obtain the new tariff. This usually increases the cancellation rate for booking processes.
To overcome these difficulties, we have developed an intuitive tariff configurator for our customer SMA Solar, which determines the best tariff without extensive information and enables the contract to be concluded in just a few steps.
Customer: SMA Solar Technology AG
Industry: Solar technology
Business segment: B2C
Short facts
Our fields of work
The initial situation
When creating a tariff configurator for any product or service, users are often overwhelmed by the selection options and results:
Many users are asked to enter information that they do not know. The results produced usually offer different options to choose from, which leads to a higher process abandonment rate.
The solution
If you take a closer look at the customer motives, it quickly becomes clear that a quick and uncomplicated process is desired. For this reason, we have developed a completely digital process (end-to-end customer journey) together with SMA to make the application process as efficient as possible.
As many customers do not know their annual kw/h consumption, we offered the option of simply selecting the number of people living in the household and entering their zip code for the calculation.
Integration with SMA IT allowed the contract to be signed on the same website with simple questions and explanatory information boxes for a more user-friendly experience.
Result
Our electricity configurator enabled potential customers to calculate the best tariff available in their region without any prior technical knowledge and without having to provide too much personal information.
Users are now able to conclude a new contract in just five steps without being redirected to another website. The smooth process reduced the number of sudden user aborts during the booking process and thus led to an increase in the number of contracts concluded.
The self-explanatory use contributed to a better user experience (UX) and reduced the number of support requests.
